Maintenance Department Supervisor Erickson reported on projects completed, in progress, and planned for the Maintenance Department, including projects in the Courthouse, the Law Enforcement Center, and the Health and Human Services Department.

L & L Aviation (contracted Sawyer County Airport management) employee Cliff Korn presented the monthly report on operations and conditions at the Sawyer County Airport.

The Committee discussed the issue of aircraft hangar regulation and inspection by the County.  Mr. Korn reported that hangar owners, while not objecting to being inspected, wished to know in advance of the inspection what it was the County was inspecting for.  He thought similar inspections were performed at regional airports near the Twin Cities and that they provided written criteria for the inspections.  The Committee requested that Mr. Korn attempt to secure a copy of the criteria for the Committee’s benefit.

The Committee discussed the Airport improvement project.  County Clerk Kris Mayberry reported that he had discussed the project with Wisconsin Department of Transportation Bureau of Aeronautics project engineer Wendy Hottenstein.  She advised that the Bureau would be meeting soon with representatives of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Cooper Engineering to discuss the comments received on the project’s environmental assessment and to determine how to proceed with the project.  She indicated that the County was welcome to be represented at the meeting.  Motion by DeLong, 2nd by Hirschfeld, to authorize the County Clerk and any other interested member of the Committee to attend the meeting.  Motion carried.

The Committee reviewed the monthly expense vouchers for the Maintenance Department and the Airport.  Motion by Kelsey, 2nd by Olson, to approve the vouchers.  Motion carried.
