Chairperson Bassett called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Approval of Agenda
Moved by Paulsen, seconded by Bassett to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes
Moved by Bassett, seconded by Thompson to approve minutes from the November 2, 2010 meeting. Bruce Paulsen noted that the discussion regarding Dave Berard investigating other county Fair’s promotional ideas was absent. It will be noted in this month’s minutes. Motion carried with notation.
Sawyer County Ag. Fair Association
Chuck Aubart, SCAFA Treasurer, reported. Aubart stated that the SCAFA had the annual meeting and new board members were elected. Ron Kubarek – President, Steve Hudson – Vice President, Patsy Aubart – Secretary, Chuck Aubart – Treasurer. Peoples Bank would like to fund the balance of the Educational Fair annually that the State does not reimburse for, which is 1/3 of the gross amount of educational premiums. Board members will be attending the State Conference for County Fairs in Wisconsin Dells.
Dave Berard discusses the assessment of County Fairs that was done a few years ago and asks that perhaps the committee is looking for the Fair Board to get assistance in creating a business plan for utilizing the Fairgrounds. Aubart will follow up with the Fair Board and they will follow up with Berard. Berard will attend the next monthly meeting.
Otto Wiegand, Ag Agent distributed report (on file) and reviewed a slide presentation regarding his work throughout the past year. Discussion regarding Farmers markets and local food services.
Approval of Vouchers
Moved by Bassett, seconded by Paulsen to approve vouchers. Motion carried.
Approval of Out-of-County Travel
Moved by Bassett, seconded by Thompson to approve out-of-county travel. Motion carried.
Any Other Business
Bassett asks how the new facilities are working for the UW-Extension staff. All is going well.
Dave Berard shares a pamphlet regarding upcoming classes in March for woodland owners in Sawyer County.
Discussion regarding meeting space in the Courthouse becoming increasingly difficult. The committee will encourage use of the new central booking location on the web.
Moved by Thompson, seconded by Bassett to adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:22 a.m.
