Chairperson Pearson called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Approval of Agenda
Moved by Gunderson, seconded by Bassett to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes
Moved by Bassett, seconded by Gunderson to approve minutes from the October 11, 2011 meeting. Motion carried.
Sawyer County Ag. Fair Association
Chuck Aubart reported. The SCAFA Board is currently discussing fundraising ideas.
Agent Report – Trinke McNurlin, Family Living Agent
Trinke McNurlin, Family Living Agent, distributed and reviewed report of programming activity for the last 6 months. Report on file. McNurlin has been here 10 years part time, and has primarily focused on financial education, housing and relationship development, promoting self-reliance and self-sufficiency. In the last 5 years, there has been a 7% increase in poverty in Sawyer County.
McNurlin was instrumental in creating and continues to update the county assistance guide, obtaining financial funding for distribution to every household once a year.
McNurlin has grown new relationships within the county, and merged about 5 coalitions into one to focus on youth and a community calendar of all existing activities youth can participate in, as well as gaps in service.
McNurlin invites the board to attend the Home for the Holidays Homeless benefit, November 17th, Lumberjack Steakhouse.
Approval of Vouchers
Moved by Bassett, seconded by Gunderson to approve vouchers. Motion carried.
Approval of Out-of-County Travel
Moved by Thompson, seconded by Bassett to approve out-of-county travel. Motion carried.
Any Other Business
Berard spoke on the mining topic at meeting in Ashland last week, metallic and frac sand mining that is exported to Texas and other places. The mining topic is “discussion only” at this time.
Moved by Thompson, seconded by Gunderson to adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:59 a.m.
