Chairperson Pearson called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Election of Officers
County Clerk Kris Mayberry opened nominations for Committee Chair. Jim Bassett nominates Dean Pearson. Mayberry calls 3 times for any other nominations. Moved by Kinsley to close nominations and unanimously elect Dean Pearson as Committee Chair, seconded by Tweed Shuman. Motion Carried. Moved by Shuman to nominate Ron Kinsley as vice chair for the committee, seconded by Bassett. Mayberry calls 3 times for any other nominations. Moved by Bassett to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Kinsley as vice chair, seconded by Shuman. Motion Carried. Committee dates and times will remain the same; Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. the full week before the monthly county board meeting.
Approval of Agenda
Moved by Kinsley, seconded by Bassett to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes
Moved by Bassett, seconded by Kinsley to approve minutes from the April 10, 2012 meeting. Motion carried.
Sawyer County Ag. Fair Association
Ron Kubarek reported. Handbooks will be out before Memorial Weekend, ahead of last year’s schedules. Huber inmates have been working at fair grounds and it is looking good. Kubarek reviewed upcoming activities being held on the Fairgrounds. Dairy Breakfast is June 23rd.
The contract with carnival has been worked out; same price as last year was negotiated. Quotes have been received for putting a roof over the swine area. Consignment auction is being contemplated as a fundraiser. Bassett recalls the former committee’s discussions of a possible supplement to the raising of the roof from the County. The Fair Board will put together a formal request for next month’s meeting. The committee requests that plans accompany the fund request, along with 2-3 bids.
Agent Report – Lori Laberee, 4-H Youth Agent
Lori Laberee distributed and reviewed report of work for the past 6 months. Report on file.
Approval of Vouchers
Moved by Bassett, seconded by Kinsley to approve vouchers. Motion carried.
Approval of Out-of-County Travel
Moved by Kinsley, seconded by Shuman to approve out of county travel. Motion carried.
Any Other Business
Laberee distributed information on UW-Extension to new committee members, as well as WACEC information with the 100th anniversary celebration of UW Extension Cooperative Extension.
Moved by Bassett, seconded by Shuman to adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:20 a.m.
