PUBLIC SAFETY MEETING – January 10, 2006

Sawyer County Courthouse, Assembly Room – 9:00 a.m.

 

 

Members present:  Chairman Frank Romnes, Shirley Suhsen, Nate DeLong, Pat Aderman, Bill Voight

 

Others present:  Ray Boeckman, Carol Larson, Dean Pearson, Chief Deputy Tim Zeigle

 

Frank Romnes called the meeting to order at 9:00.

 

Shirley Suhsen moved and Pat Aderman seconded to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried.

 

Nate DeLong moved and Bill Voight seconded to approve the minutes of the December, 2005, meeting as presented.  Motion carried.

 

Veteran’s Report

 

Shirley Suhsen moved and Pat Aderman seconded to approve out of county travel as presented. 

 

Ray Boeckman gave an update on the status of the proposed Veterans Clinic.

 

Bill Voight moved and Shirley Suhsen seconded to approve the Veteran’s vouchers as presented.  Motion carried.  Ray Boeckman left the meeting.

 

Coroner’s Report

 

Coroner Dean Pearson requested approval for Deputy Coroner Smith to attend training in Wisconsin Rapids which was currently being held.  Bill Voight moved and Pat Aderman seconded to approve the out of county travel for Deputy Coroner Smith.  Motion carried.

 

Shirley Suhsen moved and Pat Aderman seconded to approve the Coroner’s vouchers as presented.  Motion carried.  Dean Pearson left the meeting.

 

Animal Control Report

 

Raise in pay for part-time help at dog pound:  Nothing presented.  No action taken.

 

Pat Aderman moved and Shirley Suhsen seconded to approve the Animal Control vouchers as presented.  Motion carried.

 

Ambulance/Emergency Government

 

Brian Cody was not able to attend the meeting but prepared a written summary of the ambulance bids.  Shirley Suhsen moved and Pat Aderman seconded to approve the low bid of $80,000.00 from Premier Specialty Vehicles.  Motion carried.

 

Pat Aderman moved and Shirley Suhsen seconded to approve out of county travel as presented.  Motion carried.

 

Pat Aderman moved and Nate DeLong seconded to approve the ambulance/emergency government vouchers as presented.  Motion carried.

 

Sheriff’s Report

 

Chief Deputy Zeigle inquired of the committee about the possibility of transferring line item funds from 2005 for the Geo Coding System.  The committee informed Chief Deputy Zeigle that specific amounts from specific line items should be presented to the finance committee for approval.

 

Squad car and SUV bids were reviewed.  Nate DeLong moved and Shirley Suhsen seconded to approve the low bid of $20,344 from Timber Ford Mercury for six Ford Police Interceptors.  Motion carried.

 

Nate DeLong moved and Pat Aderman seconded to approve the low bid for one Ford Explorer SUV for $20,676 from Ewald Auto Group.  Motion carried. 

 

Shirley Suhsen moved and Nate Delong seconded to approve out of county travel for sheriff’s department personnel as presented.  Motion carried.

 

Bill Voight moved and Frank Romnes seconded to approve the sheriff’s department vouchers as presented.  Motion carried.

 

Chief Deputy Zeigle introduced Janet Quaderer, who has been hired as the new Tribal Deputy.

 

Jail Modification Committee

 

Nothing new to report.

 

Jail Report

 

Chief Deputy Zeigle presented the monthly jail report for Lt. Barthel. 

 

Shirley Suhsen moved and Pat Aderman seconded to adjourn the meeting at 9:40.  Motion carried.
