Public Safety Meeting – January 9, 2008
Assembly Room - Sawyer County Courthouse
Members present: Chairperson Pat Aderman, Nate Delong, Bill Voight, Fred Zietlow
Others present: Chief Deputy Tim Zeigle, Ray Boeckman, Brian Cody, Warren Johnson, Terrell Boettcher
Chairperson Aderman called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.
DeLong moved and Zietlow seconded to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried.
Voight moved and Zietlow seconded to approve the minutes of the December 10, 2007, meeting. Motion carried.
Ray Boeckman informed the committee of the status of the VA Clinics in Hayward and Rice Lake clinics. Ray informed the committee that the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis is recruiting and interviewing to fill the positions of both clinics.
DeLong moved and Zietlow seconded to approve the Veterans vouchers and out of county travel as presented. Motion carried.
Voight discussed that he would like to see the Coroner present a written monthly report to the committee as to the number of calls handled per month and other activities performed by the Coroner and Deputy Coroners.
DeLong moved and Zietlow seconded to approve the Coroner’s vouchers as presented. Motion carried.
Zietlow moved and Voight seconded to approve the Animal Control vouchers as presented. Motion carried.
Brian Cody reported on the EMT class and testing.
Brian Cody informed the committee that the new ambulance has been ordered and may possibly be delivered in April.
Discussion was held about ambulance calls and the use of Sawyer County Transit services.
Zietlow moved and DeLong seconded to approve the ambulance/emergency government vouchers. Motion carried.
DeLong moved and Aderman seconded to approve out of county travel for Brian Cody as presented. Motion carried.
School Resource Officer – The committee discussed that the matter is being worked out between the City of Hayward and the Hayward Community Schools. No further action was taken.
Voight moved and Aderman seconded to approve out of county travel for the sheriff’s department as presented. Motion carried.
Bill Voight commended Deputy Mike Sanchez on the job that he is doing regarding snowmobile patrol in the Winter area.
Zietlow moved and DeLong seconded to approve the sheriff’s department vouchers as presented. Motion carried.
Other Matters for Discussion
Discussion was held regarding crimes which had recently occurred in certain areas. Chief Deputy Zeigle informed the committee that the Sheriff’s Department and LCO Police Department are working together in regard to these matters.
DeLong moved and Voight seconded to adjourn the meeting at 9:43 a.m. Motion carried.
